Meet Chance, our friends Lauren, Chris, and Shelby are on vacation. Chance and Hendrix (cat too traumatized for photos) are staying with us at the Planck Family Zoo for a few days.
Caidy said, “Keep the Jeep running while you load up to dog pen, food, litter box and stuff.”, but I forgot she also once said, “Be careful. Chance likes to lock car doors and push window buttons.”
This leads to the inevitable. A Jeep filled with dog food, cat food, cat litter, pen, and one happy saliva swinging Boston Terrier sitting in the driver seat. Chance had the gall to happily bark at me as I tried every door. He even rolled the windows down randomly just enough that I couldn’t fit my hand in. The cursing did noting to ease my frustration.
Note: The vehicle is running. The wife is at work.
Now begins the MacGyver-esqe process of looting a friends house for:
- A wire hanger. Every home should have at least one wire hanger. I promise I will replace the one I borrowed and defiled.
- Shoe strings. After cursing with the wire hanger and the subtle (yet effective) modern Jeep devised theft prevention. Maybe I’ll get somewhere with a combination of lasso skills, wire manipulation, and knot tying.
With my acquired tools I got that door unlocked. It was mostly luck and those skills aquired from rural juvenile antics and too much TV. After wrestling Hendrix the bi-polar cat into the car we were back to our house.
Once we get home, Chance gets to see Mardi and get to business as usual.
I should just let our cat fate finish the tale in her own way…
