iAmerica

This is the landing page for iAmerica.net. This was my previous employer that was originally based in Monroe, Louisiana. Here’s some of the creative work I did with the team there.

The iAmerica domain name was initially purchased sometime between 1993 and 1995, so it could be one of the first “i” named products promoted like the iPhone is today.

I purchased the domain at auction with help from formoer co-workers. This page also serves as a memorial for the fiends we have lost. (Erek Adams and Tommy Johnson)

July 30, 2013 at 1:39 pm

Thomas “Tommy” Henry Johnson Jr., age 50, a native of Monroe, LA was lost to us Tuesday, July 16, 2013, when he died of a heart attack at his residence in Houston. Tommy was born on June 22, 1963 in Monroe, LA. Tommy graduated from Neville High School, attended ULM and graduated from LA Business College. Tommy served honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. At his company Hostgator in Houston, TX, Tommy was a Linux System Administrator and a well respected employee. Tommy enjoyed living in the Montrose District of Houston where he bowled and watched his beloved New Orleans Saints with his friends. Tommy played the guitar, created skits and songs, originated and hosted a web-based satire on the news, and was working hard to put the finishing touches on his completed novel.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Henry Johnson and will be buried beside him. Also preceding Tommy in death were his Wyatt and Johnson grandparents; uncle Jase Johnson of Monroe, his cousin Gary Wayne Adams, his uncle Joe and aunt Ernie Adams of Magnolia, AR, aunt Lillian Loretta Ruth of Laurel, MS and aunt Polly Crowe of Monroe, La.

Tommy’s mother Doris Wyatt Johnson Lewis, and stepfather David Love Lewis of Shreveport, LA, survive Tommy’s passing as do Tommy’s brother, Chris Johnson of Monroe, LA, nephew, Christopher Wyatt Johnson Jr., of Dallas, TX, aunt Ginger and uncle Fred Garms of Louisville, KY; his aunts: Nancy “Neenie” Johnson; Sally Dupuy; Dorothy “Dot” Johnson of Monroe, LA and his uncle Bill Ruth of Laurel, MS. Also left behind is Tommy’s ever present companion Krypto, his faithful little Terrier, who adored his master-friend. Krypto will have a new home with Chris Johnson in Monroe, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, 7427 Cypress St., West Monroe, LA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following funeral services, burial will be at Riverside Cemetery on South Grande in Monroe, LA.

Tommy’s wonderful spirit befriended many in this world. His family, close friends and all those he touched can honor his life by cheering his New Orleans Saints, honoring all animals, and by following his example, we can leave this world a better place.
